A 5 gallon pail of pre-mixed drywall compound is used to smooth out the rest of the bumps and fill in the spaces between the strips. This will take about a day to cure.
Applying 1st coat drywall compound
After the compound is cured, we used the sander to take off the high spots. We then mixed up a tub of finish coat drywall compound (dry-mix - 30 minute set) and applied it to fill in some more low spots. This compound can usually be sanded in a couple of hours.
Touching up 2nd coat
After sanding the finish coat, more touchup with finish coat drywall compound. Continue until you’re satisfied with the results. The 3rd coat is pretty close.
