07/22/05 (Friday) – Lillehammer to Trondheim
Slept well, but used earplugs due to the highway noise. It’s raining again, but off and on. We went to breakfast about 0800.
We got on the train about 1010 as scheduled. Dombås, Oppdal, then Trondheim at 1245. Armand picked Marit and Mom up and took them to the Viking Hotel (http://www.vikinghotel.no/english/). The rest of us took a taxi. We all checked in (wireless available!) and Armand took Mom and Marit to see Jenny while we tried to find an archaeological site (medieval church). We finally found it (access is through the basement of a bank), but the bank had just closed. They discovered the site while expanding and remodeling the bank.
We went to the Nidaros Cathedral instead. We went up the tower (172 steps) and toured the “ramparts”. On the way out, Kristi called Marit, who could actually see us at the church.

We walked back to the shopping center, then walked to a bistro called Kaktus for supper (across the old bridge). I had a beef strip and sauce dish with wine (and some aquavit – quite good). We then went to the Leif Erickson statue near the wharf.
Back at the hotel, dropped Mom off at her room and had a nightcap (aquavit, of course). Back at the room, I called Judy (Skype internet phone) and sent some pictures, then off to bed.
